The Inflight Catering Assistant is responsible for the provision of inflight catering services including the assembly of inflight snacks and drinks to approved quality and hygiene standards and the loading and unloading of food and beverage carts onto our aircraft. The role is based at the airline’s catering facility at the airport and shift working is required in order to meet the needs of our operating schedule.
Preferred Skills & Experience:
Food handling hygiene training and qualifications in a catering environment would be considered an advantage
Passion to serve and support both internal and external customers
Good independent judgment with the ability to set priorities and make appropriate decisions‚ showing initiative and the ability to solve problems with minimum supervision
Strong organisational ability and the willingness to be flexible to provide support and deal with a broad variety of issues
Have a positive “can-do” attitude and the ability to remain calm under pressure whilst maintaining effective communication
A Class 3 Driving License and an Airfield Driving Permit (ADP) to operate vehicles is desirable but not essential
Punctuality is essential
To pass airport security vetting a five-year employment record (with explanations for any gaps) and a police record check are required
Key Responsibilities:
Execute the day-to-day operation at the airline’s catering facility at the airport for all matters specific to the airline inflight catering requirements
Build and maintain strong key supplier relationships
Work very closely with the Head of Cabin Services and other operational staff to seek opportunities to continuously improve the inflight catering provision
Perform bar audits to ensure that loading of bars is according to agreed plan
Work with suppliers to control stock management of dry-good and beverage products as required
Take feedback from cabin crew and operational staff and action as requireds
Load and unload all flights (bars / food / atlas boxes) as per agreed specifications and requirements
Monitor bar and food temperatures
Conduct checks on consumption of products onboard
Perform service checks on catering equipment and process management
Take part in inflight catering relating meetings as required
Any other duties as requested by the company
Safety and security:
Contribute to ensuring all flights are operated safely and securely and that service partners meet or exceed our own‚ and industry-defined standards and regulations
Undertake regular safety risk assessments and audits to ensure operations are safely performed at all times
